More than many of her contemporaries, Rothschild is engaged with enduring sculptural issues. She uses materials more closely related to other disciplines such as craft and architecture (leather, steel and wood), and her concerns seem to be how objects can occupy space and volume, and the role of gravity in holding sculptures together.
One of best known works is the editioned work Meta, four large sheets of polished steel, perforated with holes, fit together to create two wigwam structures that sit side by side. The title makes reference to the ancient Greek prefix 'among' or 'between', which is exactly how the work stands up, with the apex of each sheet fitted to the other to balance each other out.
